— Lanzarote es en parte uno de mis domicilios habituales desde hace muchos años.

Aquí he trabajado bastante tanto en las TV autonómicas y locales como en diversos festivales.

Además, es el lugar donde vive parte de mi familia.

En ésta hermosa isla he podido mantener mi repertorio en castellano mientras estaba exigido cantando en francés o inglés. Hay mucha población anglófona, pero aquí he privilegiado el idioma español.

— ¿Qué tiene en cartera, además del esperado álbum dedicado a Piazzolla?

— Hay un álbum ya terminado que es FAREWELLS AND NOSTALGIA Vol 2 que verá la luz en 2026.

En lo inmediato seguimos trabajando con las piezas de Piazzolla. Son muy complejas y no podemos apurarnos.

— ¿Es verdad que han mostrado algunas canciones para ver la reacción del público?

— Es verdad, pero sólo en algunas radios

— ¿Qué impresiones han recogido?

— Muy buenas críticas.

Astor Piazzolla es uno de los grandes músicos universales y abordar su obra siempre despierta el interés del público más selecto.

También es un riesgo porque lo que estamos realizando es una innovación respecto de los textos agregados a las piezas que nunca los habían tenido.

— ¿Por ejemplo?

— Hemos encontrado una vez más que William Shakespeare tiene tanta vigencia que cantando algunos de sus sonetos con música de Piazzolla parecieran haber nacido el uno para el otro.

Otros textos los escribí yo mismo y los adaptó al Inglés mi esposa Ana Vives quien se ha convertido en parte fundamental de mis producciones en Inglés ya que ella conoce como nadie mi perfil emotivo.

— ¿Este álbum tiene tal vez otro significado para Ud.?

— Por supuesto, pues fue Astor Piazzolla quien una tarde me escuchó cantar en casa de Virgilio Expósito y me aconsejó, casi de manera imperativa, que emigrase para buscar otros horizontes y aprender cosas que aparecen cuando uno se va de su casa. Él lo vio así.

— ¿Tenía razón?

— Creo que él hizo una proyección de sus propias experiencias. Conmigo acertó.

— ¿Qué espera de ésta obra?

— No espero nada en especial. Realizarla es un enorme placer, un desafío y un gran logro personal. Cuando la termine pasaré a otra cosa sin mirar hacia atrás.

Cuando deje el estudio de grabación será el pasado y comenzaré con otras historias. La obra tendrá que pelear solita para abrirse paso, tener éxito, fracasar u obtener el dudoso camino de la eternidad. Somos polvo de estrellas, estamos amasado con él,un día partiremos al espacio infinito desde donde hemos venido. Nadie nos recordará. Tal vez nuestras obras hablen de nosotros como personajes lejanos. Por eso disfruto con hacerlas sin ninguna otra expectativa .

INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH

— We found him in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain Resting?

— Lanzarote has been my home away from home for many years.

I have done a lot of regional and local TV work here, as well as various festivals.

It is also the place where some of my family live.

On this beautiful island, I have been able to keep my repertoire in Spanish, while having to sing in French or English. There is a large English-speaking population, but here I have preferred the Spanish language.

— Apart from the long-awaited album dedicated to Piazzolla, what else do you have in the pipeline?

— There is an album already finished, FAREWELLS AND NOSTALGIA Vol 2, which will be released in 2026.

In the immediate future we are still working on the Piazzolla pieces. They are very complex and we can't rush them.

— Is it true that you performed some songs to see the reaction of the audience?

— This is true, but only on a few radio stations.

— What impressions have you gathered?

— Very good reviews.

Astor Piazzolla is one of the great universal musicians, and addressing his work always sparks the interest of the most select audiences.

It's also a risk because what we're doing is an innovation with respect to adding texts to pieces that have never had them before.

— For example?

— Once again we have found that William Shakespeare is so relevant that singing some of his sonnets to the music of Piazzolla seems to be a natural fit.

Other texts were written by myself and adapted into English by my wife, ANA VIVES, who has become an essential part of my English productions because she knows my emotional profile like no one else.

— Does this album have another meaning for you?

— It was Astor Piazzolla, of course, who heard me singing one afternoon in VIRGILIO EXPÓSITO's house and advised me, almost urgently, to emigrate, to seek other horizons and to learn things that come when you leave home.

That was how he saw it.

— So was he right?

— I think he was projecting his own experiences. He got it right with me.

— What do you expect from this work?

— I don't expect anything special. Making it is an enormous pleasure, a challenge and a great personal achievement. When I finish it, I will move on to something else without looking back.

When I leave the recording studio it will be the past and I will start other stories. The work will have to fight its own way, succeed, fail or take the dubious path to eternity. We are stardust, we are kneaded with it, one day we will depart into the infinite space from which we came. No one will remember us. Perhaps our works will speak of us as distant figures. That's why I enjoy making them without any other expectations.
